o be honest, I was expecting the floats to be crude. But when we got to Session Road where the floats were parked, I was surprised and amazed how beautiful most of the floats were. The Panagbenga this yea
r is sure worthy to be called a festival of flowers. Though there were less native species exhibited in the floats, Filipino ingenuity and creativity was very obvious.
The Philippines is blessed with a very high biodiversity, including the plants living in its remaining forest cover. Trees alone comprise about 3500 species. Just to research on a species a day would take about 10 years to finish all of just the trees. Then there are still the shrubs, herbs, ferns etc. Through this blog we hope to introduce you to some important plants in the forest before they completely disappear because of habitat destruction.

The March of Flowers
Finally!!!
At laaast!!! I have finally defended my thesis. From now on I could blog about plants in a leisurely manner (as if I have not been doing it, even though i was in thesis mode). To everyone who helped, a very big thank you. But I still have to finish my thesis book to finally say it is over and done with. But more blogs about plants still to come. hopefully for years even after my thesis.
